Sounds like an opportunity to sow some seeds of doubt.Dark Matter Day is approaching

Washington DC (SPX) Jun 27, 2017
A global hunt for the universe's missing matter is underway, and this autumn everyone is invited to join in.
On and around October 31, 2017, events around the world will celebrate the hunt for the universe's unseen "dark matter." Dark Matter Day events will engage the public in discussions about dark matter, and about the many experiments that seek to solve its mysteries.
Universities, laboratories, institutions and individuals are invited to organize a Dark Matter Day event in their area or online. Events could include a public lecture on dark matter, a tour of a science laboratory or experiment connected with the search for dark matter, a dark matter-themed planetarium show or film presentation, Q and A with a scientist live or online, classroom presentation...the sky is the limit.
Just want to attend an event? You don't need a PhD to explore dark matter's mysteries - just curiosity. Anyone who wants to learn about dark matter - adults, kids, non-scientists, scientists, science educators, students - is encouraged to attend local Dark Matter Day events on or leading up to October 31, 2017. Go to Dark Matter Day to sign up to be notified of events near you.

Re: Dark Matter Day is approaching
It honestly beats me why they even bother - it does not exist in the form they think it does.
It is also ironic when you consider that Kristian Birkeland could almost have been eerily prescient when he said
The other big problem I have is that they keep changing it's name & properties to try & force the theory to fit the ever stranger (to them) observations so we have had MACHOs (MAssive Compact Halo Objects) which are allegedly Black Holes & Neutron Stars & things like that, WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles) which supposedly possess mass yet somehow do not interact with ordinary matter because they are made of something entirely unknown and then there is HDM (Hot Dark Matter), CDM (Cold Dark Matter) and even - yes, you guessed it - WDM (Warm Dark Matter). Just keep on inventing those ad hoc objects boys, and the grants will keep coming. There was even a list of differing "Dark Matter Classifications" issued in 2003 (Science magazine v300 issue 5627 p1909)
CCDM - Cold collisionless Dark Matter
SIDM - Strongly self-interacting Dark Matter
WDM - Warm Dark Matter
RDM - Repulsive Dark Matter
SADM - Self Annihilating Dark Matter
FDM - Fuzzy Dark Matter
That is a whole heap of Unicorns there! To borrow a line from Don Scott in his superb "The Electric Sky" that I think really sums it all up beautifully

Of course he was not referring to so-called "Dark Matter" but instead of plasmas in different states of operation - usually dark mode - which makes them all but invisible - after all, we do not see the transmission lines on earth from space, but only the tell-tale usage signatures so we should not therefore expect to see interstellar & intergalactic transmission lines. But logic tells us (as well as repeated laboratory experimentation) that they are there and they must have "mass" even if it is extremely tenuous.Kristian Birkeland in The Norwegian Polaris Expedition 1902-1903 wrote:...It does not seem unreasonable therefore to think that the greater part of the material masses in the universe is found not in the solar systems or nebulae but in "empty" space

Just in time for dark matter day......
http://physicsworld.com/cws/article/new ... x-no-shows
Evidently LUX hasn't been a complete waste of time. They "constrained'" dark matter to ever shrinking gaps......yet again.
I don't even know how the authors of these exotic matter papers can even write about this stuff anymore. It's just so ridiculous that there is no real "falsification" mechanisms, just "constraints". They'll ultimately end up "constraining" WIMP theory all the way down to the neutrino interaction cross section and then they'll make up some more excuses to spend more money on this nonsense.

Exactly. It's ALL about the money, not the science.Michael Mozina wrote: They'll ultimately end up "constraining" WIMP theory all the way down to the neutrino interaction cross section and then they'll make up some more excuses to spend more money on this nonsense.

Dark matter is needed because they apply the wrong physics to 99.9% of the universe. Gravitational forces are only the dominant force in .1% of the universe, planetary systems, non ionized matter. It isn't that Newtons laws need modified, they simply need confined to the states of matter they apply to.

If the mainstream can create a 'dark matter' day to fall on Halloween, then I think we should create an "Electric Universe/Plasma Cosmology" day that falls on the 4th of July. We all wish to be declare our independence from supernatural superstitious nonsense as it relates to cosmology theory, so it only makes sense for us to pick the forth of July as "our" holiday.
It's also a festive family holiday and it might involve a drink or two.

I nominate Electric Mayhem as the official cocktail.Osmosis wrote:Three cheers for the new July 4th Electric Universe/Plasma Cosmology Day!
