The Universe Is Not Expanding Uniformly

Oh oh!
"We expected the expansion to become more uniform on increasingly larger scales, but that's not what we found." If confirmed, their findings will result in a new understanding of the origin of structure in the universe and possible revisions to the standard cosmological model.
:?
Using several different surveys they discovered that about 50% of the Local Group’s motion is faster than anticipated. To produce this motion, they believe there must be large unseen and unknown structures in the universe. They write, "The large value of the residual motion implies that there are significant velocities generated by very-large scale structures," and the structures lie beyond the Local Group.

Brian McNamara, a University Research Chair in UW's department of physics and astronomy, says Hudson is finding that much of the matter in the nearby universe moves as an ensemble with a surprisingly high speed. "If the work he and others are doing is confirmed, it will require a major revision in the way we think the universe came into being and how it evolved."
How major I wonder? :D

It cannot expand uniformly in a created or a eternal universe. It is pushed and pulled. Look at the orbit of the electron in a hydrogen atom then make that the world boundry. Volia the seeable edge of the universe will be the same for all time. Congradulations on the bannings.

"Bulk flow"? Did they say "bulk flow"? That is a term right out of plasma astrophysics wherein the self-organized plasma "cells" will reveal the effect of stars and entire systems of stars clusters and on out to include galaxy clusters to be 'co-moving' together as a relative group interlacing evacuated (scavenged) "voids" in ever decreasing 'density', as one expands outward. Need to read this one. There should be no "unknown force" at work but the exclusion of electromagnetism and plasma begets the "anomalous transport" mechanism producing these "bulk flows". The "local fluff" or local group, as it's own plasma cell (molecular cloud etc) should have it's own movement but at the same time be influenced by the greater movement of the 'cloud' within which several co-moving plasma cells reside. This is the "Living in a Bubble" thread isn't it?

Read this nice little summary: "Our Galactic Neighbourhood - the Local Bubble and the Local Fluff"
The word 'bubble' is used because it appears somewhat spherical, with a 'wall' of denser matter at its periphery, and relatively little matter inside its cavity. In fact, the interior is a near-perfect vacuum, with 0.05 atoms per cubic centimetre, much less than surrounding regions of the galaxy...

Almost all of the stars presently in the Local Bubble are just passing through, coursing randomly past each other like balls in an open-ended billiard table as they make their way around the galaxy. Some star systems, however, appear to move in tandem with each other and we call them Superclusters.
Cellularized, electromagnetically delineated ("walls" = electric double layer defined plasma "cells") = "bulk flows" of plasma 'systems' within and through other hierarchical plasma systems.

Their bulk movement contradicts LCDM? Oh, well isn't that surprising.

Seems to me that a plasma physicist would have a field day with this.
"Our laws of force tend to be applied in the Newtonian sense in that for every action there is an equal reaction, and yet, in the real world, where many-body gravitational effects or electrodynamic actions prevail, we do not have every action paired with an equal reaction." — Harold Aspden

Hey sol, how did ya manage to get 16 bans for gods sake?! :D What was it this time about? Pointing out that it is absolutely ridiculous that the universe has even a small area not expanding uniformly, that`s of course if it started out from singularity..

Sock puppet mainly, but also that the answers they struggle to find can be explained electrically if they acknowledged it!

it also has alot to do with boredom, no use coming here and arguing if the universe is electric or not! 8-)

I just love throwing them a curve ball and see'em squirm till some kill joy reports me! usually the same members.

Last one was the subject of the OP, but every time data comes up or a new finding I ask them if they can explain it, which they usually can e.g shocks, friction, impacts etc etc you know how it goes!
