This is a subscription only site; but this article is so fascinating that I’d like to post it in its entirety. The “powers to be” speak of this “new age” as the “new Atlantis” or "Atlantis rising". The media and the movies are filled with occult symbolism depicting this.

Well quite literally with all the earth changes, a “new Atlantis” (and possibly a “new Lemuria) does indeed appear to be rising from the ocean floor while the "old Atlantis" is sinking. It is interesting, too, that both ancient Rome and the United States have been referred to as the "new Babylon" of each age. Does history repeat itself?

Suddenly all this seems to coalesce into a picture of a strange “déjà vu” just as depicted in Scriptures and prophesies.

Most of us have been taught to believe that the Earth, the Sun, the Moon, the planets and all stars are not living entities. While we may understand now that the Sun and Moon affect human activities, we still do not seem to comprehend how our actions impact upon the these bodies (as above, so below).

Two Profound Events on the Immediate Horizon

This article will examine the end of the present age, or cycle, from the perspective of 1) an Edgar Cayce reading, and 2) a highly prescient, late-1800’s vision by Phylos, a master in the spirit plane. Both psychic messages deal primarily with the end of the present cycle. My thesis is that the present cycle will end with a pole shift, and also, with the destruction “by fire” of much of humanity that has become “unfaithful” in the current cycle. The current cycle is about to end this year, according to the Cayce reading. Such a radical thesis is advanced here for your evaluation and, if you wish, you can email me.

Event Number 1: Cayce reading 826-8 implies that a new cycle for humanity is to begin in 2000-2001, in association with shifting of the poles.

Q. What great change or the beginning of what change, if any, is to take place in the Earth in the year 2000 to 2001 A.D.?

A. When there is a shifting of the poles. Or a new cycle begins.

Event Number 2: Before discussing solar heats related to the “fire” of the transition to the new Cycle, we will turn to a visionary prediction of the last sign of the end of the present Age. This sign is presented below by a master known as Phylos the Tibetan. (More later on Phylos).

"Friends, know ye the meaning of the name Jerusalem? That it meanith 'Vision of Peace''? Verily, so it doth. One by one during the years all the signs of the end of the Age but one were fulfilled; but these were 'only the beginning of sorrows,' for still the Spirit of Liberty abode here and there in the breasts of lovers of their fellowmen. The Spirit wrapped itself in the glorious folds of the Stars and Stripes and proclaimed the imperishable declaration of human equality, granting unto all that freedom which Americans for themselves demanded. But now the 'Vision of Peace' is finally encompassed by armies, the last gap being filled with blue-coated soldiers forcing Mammon's commercial shackles upon alien peoples in tropical islands... [emphasis added] 'Then shall the end come.' A Son hath continually called from on High: 'Stand from under! Get into the shelter of that Cross.'"

So now we have the predicted two events. Consider the warning that accompanies them.

A Warning About Being Unfaithful

What is needed most in the Earth today? That the sons of men be warned that the day of the Lord is near at hand, and that those who have been and are unfaithful must meet themselves in those things which come to pass in their experience.

What does it mean to be unfaithful? Indeed, what is faith? The word is not easy to understand but, as paraphrased from Maurice Nicoll's psychological commentaries (v. 3, 1952, Vincent Stuart), in the Gospels, faith is referred to as a seed in one’s mind. “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and nothing shall be impossible to you.” Christ spoke these words to the disciples after they were unable to cure an epileptic boy who kept falling “into the fire and oft-times into the water.” In answer to the disciples’ question, “Why could we not cast it out?” Christ says, “Because of your little faith.”

Now faith is not as most people suppose, belief. In its essential meaning, faith denotes a certainty that a higher interpretation of life exists and, as a consequence, that the transformation of human kind is a possibility. The peculiar quality of faith can be found in this idea, that life can only be understood by the sense of something higher than Man as he is, and that Man has this possibility of becoming transformed and passing into completely new meanings relative to life on Earth. It is this peculiar quality that is the essence of faith, and which makes it completely different from what we normally call belief. Indeed, faith undermines all our ordinary and natural beliefs because it leads away from worldly belief and in a direction that can no longer be confirmed by the evidence of the five senses. For this reason, faith is defined as a seed in a person’s mind; that is, it is the potentiality of a growth in a man’s mind, which cannot exist in him as long as he believes that life, as it is, is the end of human endeavor, and not a means for something else. Thus, if we imagine that life is an end in itself - and the only end - we cannot possess faith and do not even wish to.

When we are identified with our personality and with life, we dwell among the unfaithful and fall under the laws of accident and karma that govern inhabitants of this plane. When we faithfully begin to work on diminishing our acquired personality and developing our in-born essence, we begin to fall under the laws of our own fate. This seems to be the message of the warning in the above reading. Thus, those who have been and are unfaithful -- who believe in life as it is and not as a means to transformation -- may experience Earth changes or accidents of various sorts. Such people contrast with those of faith who, by their own mental searching and not in response to external coercion, begin to dwell in a “spiritual” environment.

Commercialism and Commercial Shackles

Note that the commercialism mentioned previously by Phylos is by its very nature rooted in the belief that the discoveries of researchers and inventors in the external world are capable of providing products that meet all the needs of people, leaving aside all consideration of Man’s inner needs. Commercialism is a symptom of lack of faith. This realization brings us back to the warning of reading 5148-2.

But Phylos’s use of the term “commercial shackles” goes a step further. Here, the “commercial” emphasis is on excessive profit, to the detriment of exploited peoples. For today's world situation, it would seem that Phylos’s "blue-coated soldiers" refers to businessmen, and that the "alien peoples in tropical islands" refers primarily to the inhabitants of southeast Asia. The "commercial shackles" forced upon these peoples could in part be the servitude, the often prison-like working conditions, and the minuscule wages experienced by laborers in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Indonesia. The American Press has documented these conditions. One article, entitled "Asian Labor: Wages of Shame", is headlined, "Western Firms Help To Exploit Brutal Conditions." Children are often the only wage earners in some areas of southeast Asia because adult workers have been laid off in favor of children, who are infinitely more exploitable and provide larger profits for wealthy factory owners and corporate stockholders worldwide.

In an article entitled “U.S. Trained Butchers of Timor” (The Guardian, 9/19/99) we read,
“Indonesian military forces linked to the carnage in East Timor were trained in the United States under a covert program sponsored by the Clinton Administration which continued until 1998…..Amnesty International’s East Timor country specialist, Deborah Sklar, traces the [Suharto] regime’s ‘over-reliance on thuggish military operations’ as being due to the demands of the foreign investment community and even the World Bank. She cites a blueprint called The East Asian Miracle, written by US Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers [now President of Harvard University], in which he urges governments to ‘insulate’ themselves from ’pluralist pressures’ and to suppress trade unions.. This, she says, became a primary Kopassus role during the years of training by the U. S.” [Kopassus was an elite Indonesian army force built up with American expertise despite U.S. awareness of its role in the genocide of about 200,000 people in the years after the invasion of East Timor in 1975.]

More recently, in the New York Times of March 6, 2001, Abigail Abrash has used reports of recent bloody fighting on the Indonesian island of Borneo to detail the failed economic and social policies that Indonesia, with American support, has followed far too long. She states, in part:

The American State Department’s annual report on human rights, released last month, charged that the Indonesian government had “used its authority, and at times intimidation, to appropriate land for development projects, particularly in areas claimed by indigenous people, and often without fair compensation.” It further stated, “When indigenous people clash with private-sector development projects, the developers almost always prevail.”

Indonesia’s military plays a critical role in the economy, relying on its private business interests for an estimated two-thirds of its annual budget. The military has not hesitated to acquire and protect its own and others’ assets by force. [Emphasis added]. A lieutenant commander of Indonesia’s elite American-trained special forces described for a human-rights investigator in 1998 what role the military played in establishing and protecting natural-resource operations and other development projects. “The military is here to make sure that investors can come in.”

When Asian markets crashed in 1997, Indonesia’s currency lost much of its value, and the state utility, not surprisingly, was bankrupted. American and other foreign investors, or their insurers, demanded payment. American ambassador Roger Gelbard, the federal Overseas Private Investment Corporation, and others placed enormous pressure on Indonesia to pay up at precisely the time when its economy had been devastated and the country was just emerging from 30 years of military rule. In context, such a policy of putting American corporate interests first is inherently destabilizing.

The current condition of Indonesia, the fourth most populous nation in the world, is perilous. Morgan Stanley economists currently estimate Indonesia’s total public debt to be $152 billion, or 99 percent of its gross domestic product. With some 40 percent of government operating expenditures going to make payments on this debt, experts acknowledge that Indonesia is facing a permanent debt trap.

The foregoing material certainly comports well with Phylos’s sign of commercial shackles placed upon the peoples of tropical islands, and indicates clearly the complicity of America in this tragedy. And who would have thought that such a sign would ever come to pass when it was first published in 1894? But that is exactly what happened. And note that Phylos concludes his narrative of the Mammon’s-commercial-shackles sign with, “Then shall the end come.” (End of the Age (or Cycle) that is.)

The book, A Dweller on Two Planets, was channeled from Phylos, a disincarnate master, whose facts and truths were taken from the Akashic records. The channel was a seventeen-year-old named Fredrick Oliver. Phylos claimed to have had incarnations, in Tibet, on Atlantis, and most recently in America during the California gold rush.

Between Earthly incarnations, his soul spent time in the realm of Venus. Thus, his claim of having dwelt on two planets. Interestingly, the Atlantis story and the forecasts mentioned by Phylos seem closely to parallel those of the Cayce readings. And the references by Phylos to reincarnation, Lemuria, karma, and to Christ as being the only way to personal salvation also parallel the readings. One wonders if Cayce ever read the book.

Phylos's story is relevant for several reasons, one being his descriptions of the technological accomplishments of the Atlantean civilization. Conveniences on Atlantis are said to have included transportation by anti-gravity devices, "telephotic" service similar to our television, and a "caloriveyant" instrument by which energy could be transmitted by Earth currents and converted at distance into heat. In the words of Phylos, this energy transmission also utilized

"those [characteristics] of the higher ether, a range which ye shall yet find and utilize as did Atl [Atlantis], for are ye not [Atlantis] returned? I have said it. Ye lived then, ye live now. Ye used all these forces then; ye shall ere long use them all again."

Phylos makes many references to America as being "Atlantis come again," a theme that parallels a Cayce reading:

Be it true that there is the fact of reincarnation, and that souls that once occupied such an environ [Atlantis] are entering the Earth's sphere and inhabiting individuals in the present, is it any wonder that -- if they made such alterations in the affairs of the Earth in their day, as to bring destruction upon themselves -- if they are entering now, they might make changes in the affairs of peoples and individuals in the present?

Phylos’s Forecast for America and the World

Earlier in this reading we find, "As we recognize, there has been considerable given representing such a lost continent by those channels such as the writer of 'Two Planets;" that is, as given by Phylos.

What is the nature of Phylos's forecast? Phylos begins his ruminations on the end of the present age with words full of karmic penalty:

"Atl, just because she is Atl returned on a higher plane, she must endure the woes as well as retrace her precarnate glories. The penalty visited upon Poseid [the last remaining large island of Atlantis] was the crowning sentence of that Age. Century after century in the majestic march of Time hath passed since the sun looked down upon a wild waste of ocean waters where but a few days before had been the regal Island-Continent. Another cycle hath reached its end, and its last now-closed Sixth Day is come, in stately, measured, but inexorable way to face judgment by the standard, Truth."

Phylos then asserts that there is no escape from the "awful woe" of the end of the age, as pictured in prophecy over many centuries. He asserts that "America, the Glorious, together with the rest of the world" will meet worse woe than Atlantis, "though not by water but by fire." He goes on,

The Hour hath struck. And yet in all of this there is no mystery, no supernatural penalty, no capricious infliction by an offended personal God, and nothing of 'man's necessity, God's opportunity'. It is all of Man's own doing. He hath wandered from the Way, and hath for the God-nature in him, which he should have revered and nourished, substituted worship of Self and of Mammon; hath cast out Love; and placed violence, lust, greed and all the riotous animalism in him in command of his life. Man is his own judge and executioner"

Phylos then proceeds to describe the end of our age:

"Soon millions of trained soldiers will turn upon the visible representatives, the wealthy and worldly prosperous, who in reality are not more responsible than will be their assailants, of that Relentless Force [selfish Capital] behind all human enterprise. Later they will break up into lawless bands bent on satisfying Ishmaelitish tendencies, each self-server's hand weaponed against their fellow creatures. Then will the pent-up hate, the savagery and selfishness begotten by ages of selfishness ruled by unbridled animalism break in a storm such as the world hath never yet seen.... "

As to Phylos's references to violence, lust, and animalism in American society, start with the violence and eroticism displayed routinely on American TV and now exported to ever larger audiences worldwide. Then open the Wall Street Journal and read about "a publicly held firm that turns X-rated videos into a hot business," or about "porn lines [that] offer 800 numbers." Now consider that the U. S. military-industrial complex makes more money on weapons sales overseas than it does on domestic sales, and some of these sales are financed by U.S. Government loans. By 1980, the top ten U. S. corporate earners involved in foreign weapons sales were making $15 billion yearly, and ranged from a rather obvious General Dynamics to a not-so-expected Chrysler Corporation.

Consider that in 1995, the U.S. controlled 53% of the world arms trade, and has been called "the world's leading merchant of death." American exports of anti-personnel mines have maimed and killed thousands of children over the last few years. Finally, add to this partial commentary on violence, lust, and lawlessness (as promulgated by certain reincarnated Atlanteans?), that America leads the world in per capita incarceration of its own citizens.

And what of Phylos's vision of "trained soldiers turning upon the visible representatives" of society and of lawless bands forming to satisfy selfish goals? An Atlantic Monthly article, entitled "The Coming Anarchy", refers to just such activity, in Sierra Leone. Under a subheading, "A Premonition of the Future," it suggests that "West Africa is becoming the symbol of worldwide demographic, environmental, and societal stress, in which criminal anarchy emerges as the real 'strategic' danger. Disease, overpopulation, unprovoked crime, scarcity of resources, refugee migrations, the increasing erosion of nation-states and international borders, and the empowerment of private armies [emphasis added], security firms, and international drug cartels are now most tellingly demonstrated through a West African prism. In Serria Leone, the government force fighting the rebels is full of renegade commanders who have aligned themselves with disaffected village chiefs. A pre-modern formlessness governs the battlefield, evoking the wars in medieval Europe...."

Is there any evidence in the United States of "trained soldiers turning upon the visible representatives of society"? Unfortunately, evidence of this tendency is growing. In addition to former U. S. soldiers joining militias nationwide, consider the recent report on an underground group claiming to be serving the Army's elite Special Forces, headquartered at Ft. Bragg, N. C. The group has been publishing a far-right dissident newspaper, The Resister, which is extremely critical of the Federal Government. The New York Times article concludes that "extremists trained in special warfare are seen as posing a serious problem" to society. And we remember, too, that a U.S. Army soldier was in custody in 1995, charged with blowing up the Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

Is Phylos’s Vision Based On Truth?

When Cayce was asked whether Phylos's vision of the end of the age was "based on truth, especially in its forecast for the United States,” the answer was:

As viewed by an entity separated from the whole, yes. As TRUTH that may be implied by one that looks only to the Lamb, to the Son as a leader, no. Choose thou. "

It would seem that the "entity" referred to here is Phylos, and that Phylos's understanding is correct, but limited, however slightly, by such clouded vision as can affect any soul not fully absorbed into the Whole. I interpret this reading to mean that karmic penalty, as enunciated by Phylos, may be mitigated for a nation that does an about face, and starts to try to implement Christ-like principles in its activities at home and abroad. Thus, the Law of Grace, as intimated in this reading, can supersede the Law of Karma:

As in relationship to changes, these are indicated not only through prophecies but through astrological aspects, as well as the thought and intent of persons and groups in high places, bringing about these things, these conditions in what might be said the fullness of time.

However -- since the advent of the Son of Man in the Earth, giving man an advocate with the Father -- there has been an influence that may counteract much of that which has been indicated that would come as retribution, or in fulfilling the law of an evolution of ideas and the relationship of material things to the thoughts and intents of individuals and groups.

Then as to whether the hearts and minds of individuals or souls (who were given authority concerning the laws of the universe) are fired with thoughts of dire consequences or those things that bespeak of the greater development of a spiritual awakening is still in the keeping and in the activities of individuals -- who, as this entity, have caught a glimpse, or an awareness, of that which is in the making, in the affairs of state, nation, and nations, and the universe as related to the conditions upon the face of Mother Earth.

There enters much then, that might become questions as respecting the activities of groups and individuals who have acted and who are to act as a counterbalance to those happenings in the Earth...

Again, the interpretation of the signs and the omens becomes an individual experience. And each soul -- as this entity -- then is given the privilege, the opportunity to live such an activity in its relationships to its fellow man -- filling, fulfilling, and interpreting that which has been indicated, in such measures and such manners as to bring hope and not fear, peace and not hate, that which is constructive, not destructive, into the minds and hearts of others.

Indonesia’s Woes and Earth Changes

And what relationship is there between Indonesia's woes and the beginning of worldwide Earth changes, which also are scheduled to occur here at the end of the Age? Consider first Cayce reading 294-185 (6/30/36).

These changes in the Earth will come to pass, for the times and times and half times are at an end and there begin these periods of the readjustments. For how hath He given? "The righteous shall inherit the earth." Hast thou, my brethren, a heritage in the Earth?

Now realize that eruptions of torrid-area volcanoes, like those in Indonesia, are predicted in Cayce reading 3976-15 to be among the precursors of pole shift and of a host of associated Earth changes. Such eruptions will undoubtedly find robust expression in Indonesia, for its 13,000 islands have the world's largest number of historically active volcanoes. These volcanoes reside in Earth's Torrid Zone and four-fifths of them have erupted this century.

Tambora's 1815 eruption was the largest ever recorded. It spewed at least 25 cubic miles of ash into the upper atmosphere, causing a significant, three-day-long darkness in areas up to 200 miles distant. The worldwide climatic effects resulted in snow in New England in July of 1816. When Krakatoa blew itself away in 1883 it produced a tsunami 120 feet high that took 36,000 lives in coastal areas of Java and Sumatra. Perhaps renewed Indonesian volcanism will be a precursor of the predicted Earth-changes period when man will be required to return once again
to his dependence wholly -- physically and mentally -- upon the Creative Forces

.....Remember [that next time] not by water -- for it is the mother of life in the Earth -- but rather by the elements, fire.

This reading seems to parallel closely Phylos's assertion that "America, the glorious, together with the rest of the world, will meet worse woe than Atlantis, "though not by water but by fire." But the grim reaper of Phylos’s fire is “solar heats,” not increased volcanism. This fact invites us to review briefly the influence of cosmic rays and solar flares on Earth’s climate.

SOURCES OF PHYLOS’S “FIRE” AND “SOLAR HEATS”

Effects of Cosmic Rays And Solar Flares on Earth’s Climate

Cosmic "rays" are composed of highly energetic particles -- mostly protons and atomic nuclei -- that strike the Earth from space. According to one expert, "The simplest interpretation of their origin is that the highest-energy cosmic rays come from our galaxy, from sources in the large galactic halo."1 But others, studying the origin and make-up of extremely high-energy cosmic rays think that such rays are made up of a new, extra-galactic subatomic particle. G. Farrar and P. Bierman studied the five most energetic cosmic rays ever detected on Earth and found that their origins were in five compact quasars, or "quasi-stellar radio sources." These quasars are among the most powerful sources of energy in the universe. The nearest is four to five billion light years away; the furthest is 13 to 16 billion light years away.2 Perhaps these are the same quasars that emitted the cosmic rays that powered the Atlantean "super-cosmic ray".

Climatic Effects. Recent evidence indicates that cosmic rays influence Earth's climate. H. Svensmark of the Danish Meterological Institute has found that during the most recent 11-year activity cycle of the Sun, Earth's cloud cover was more closely correlated with the flux of cosmic rays coming from our galaxy than with the Sun's radiance.
"Apparently, the solar magnetic field interacts with the cosmic rays. When strong, the Sun's field blocks more cosmic rays, which ionize air molecules in the lower atmosphere and in this way are thought to contribute to cloud cover and other weather-related phenomena."3

Cloud cover has been found to be 3 to 4 percent greater at sunspot minimum (cosmic ray maximum) than at sunspot maximum.4 And an indirect mechanism for cosmic ray effects on clouds has been elucidated by B. Tinsley.5 Finally, N. Calder, in his new book, The Manic Sun,6 claims that solar effects on global warming are clear. They are caused by changes in the amount of cosmic rays, and are large enough to invalidate the work of others, who attribute most of the warming to human effects, such as carbon-dioxide emissions to the atmosphere.

Now this work on cyclic changes in the flux of cosmic rays seems to resonate with the following passage in 1602-3 where we read:

These [gradual Earth-change activities in 1998] are at the periods when the cycle of the solar activity, or the years as related to the Sun's passage through the various spheres of activity become paramount or Catamount [?]7to the change between the Piscean and the Aquarian age. This is a gradual, not a cataclysmic activity in the experience of the Earth in this period.

The word paramount implies "one superior to all others with which we are familiar." And indeed, scientists have concluded that 1998 was the warmest year of not only the decade, but quite possibly, of the millennium. The reading implies that the effects of this paramount solar cycle are part of Earth's evolution, as our Sun and planetary system moves into new spheres of galactic influence. And we will all be affected by the new influences. Does this mean that Earth's climate will begin to change greatly, or erratically? Will climate changes cause food shortages? And will increased cosmic rays -- known to produce slight genetic alterations -- have a significant effect on subsequent generations?

Finally, we turn to Phylos's vision of "solar heats," predicted to occur about now, here at the end of the Piscean Age. Phylos describes the outbreak of a worldwide conflict that
Nature completing, will leave living but one where now are many, for in that day none will pause to bury the slain until the evil is wrought, nor then, for the dead of the plagues will be as thousands for every one by violence. And all this because the love that should grace and soften men's hearts, each for all and all for each, dried up and became a mockery in the close of the ended cycle, leaving but scattered oases, few and far between. Nature follows man. Wherefore the waters of Earth will dry out, rains be withheld, cyclones sweep, and an earthquake come such as was not since a man was on the Earth; aye, I am mindful of Poseidia. But all of this will occur through natural causes, and in consonance with the selfishness, lust, greed, anger and general depravity of the Type. As these blaze in the human breast, so shall the air, dry and vaporless under brazen skies, develop solar heats [emphasis added] more fierce than history ever knew. A parched earth, furnace-like, piling all flesh mountains high; pestilences stalking unchecked. O ye! Blind to the Handwriting on the wall, which flickers still, though writ for a spent cycle. Turn now and read, while yet the last midnight stroke reverberates.

But Phylos's vision may be mitigated! Consider Cayce's response to a person's question about whether Phylos's vision of the end of the Age was "based on truth, especially in its forecast for the United States."

As viewed by an entity separated from the whole, yes. As truth that may be implied by one who looks only to the Lamb, to the Son as a leader, no. Choose thou.

The Fire Next Time

It is difficult to assign a date in the future to this intimated burning of the Earth. Mentioned only a single time in the readings, the statement in 3653-1 about the next destruction of the Earth by fire seems not to fit with the many other Earth-change readings that suggest instead many catastrophic seismotectonic events directly ahead. But some say that this reading does fit with the Sun's "paramount" activity mentioned in reading 1602-3 above. That activity is to occur during the peak of the solar-cycle maximum between 1998 and 2003.

Note that on September 24, 1998, a geomagnetic storm occurred that measured 8.6 on a scale of 0 to 9. A storm of this intensity is seen only a few times per decade. The storm originated from an intense solar flare, one so strong that it blew some of Earth's atmosphere into space. "This storm may be the harbinger of the next solar maximum due to peak in the year 2000," said Rice University Professor, J. Freeman. And C. Seife asks,8

Could the Sun send out a monstrous flare powerful enough to melt the ice on Jupiter's moons, destroy much of the Earth's ozone layer and obliterate all our satellites? It's possible, say astronomers who have studied other Sun-like stars in our Galaxy, which seem to produce enormous "superflares" about once a century. They are baffled by the fact that there are no historical records of similar explosions.

Roughly once or twice a decade, the eruption of [the Sun's] stellar material is powerful enough to send huge electric currents racing around the Earth's upper atmosphere, disrupting power grids and communications satellites. In 1989, one such explosion knocked out a power grid in Quebec.....A superflare on the Sun would be about 10,000 times as powerful as the explosion that caused the Canadian blackout...Although life on Earth would survive, the atmosphere would glow very brightly and half the ozone layer would be destroyed.

As to why a superflare has not occurred on the Sun in recorded history is unclear. "I think a consensus is emerging that our Sun is extraordinarily stable, suggests G. Gisler, an astronomer at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. We seem to have found a star that is extremely stable and friendly to life -- or we are just on a star that happens to be stable right now and will not always be so."

A Prehistoric Solar Conflagration? P. LaViolette is the author of Cataclysm! Compelling Evidence of a Cosmic Catastrophe in 9500 B.C. (Starlane Publications, Schenectady, NY 12309). His book alleges that around 12,600 B.P. (years Before the Present), the Earth experienced catastrophic alterations due to a "solar conflagration event." He relates the strong global warming that began around 14,650 B.P., and the evidence of wild swings in Earth's geomagnetic field, to the arrival of a galactic superwave that caused huge flares to erupt from the Sun. These flares may have occurred off and on until about 12,700 B.P., after which the sun quieted down until now.

The basis of LaViolett's hypothesis lies mainly in his working backward from research by N. Mörner on magnetic signatures in dated layers of a sediment core from Gothenberg, Sweden. In 1977, Mörner published a now famous paper in Quaternary Research entitled "The Gothenburg Magnetic Excursion." Mörner's core data record a 180˚ flip in Earth's geomagnetic pole around 12,700 B. P. Such a flip could be the product of extremely strong solar-flare activity. And this suggested to LaViolette that solar flares were responsible for burning the Earth and melting the ice sheets. But melting of the continental glaciers actually began in the central U.S. around 18,500 years ago, some 6,000 years earlier.

LaViolette says that the history of the global conflagration has been passed down in the survival myths of many peoples. He also provides evidence that the intensity and direction of Earth's magnetic field "fluctuated irregularly from about 15,800 to 14,200 years ago. A particularly major geomagnetic excursion occurred around 14,200 B. P., when the Earth's north magnetic pole abruptly flipped southward to point to an equatorial mid-Pacific location for around 10 to 50 years."

But this excursion took place right in the middle of the period between 19,400 and 11,900 B.P. when the Cayce readings suggest that the Earth was undergoing a pole shift, or a "shifting of the activities of the Earth itself.” (644-1) This shift, whatever its nature, was caused by the enormous man-induced eruption brought forth from the bowels of the Earth itself(364-11). This man-induced eruption caused a portion of Atlantis near the Sargasso Sea to go "into the depths." One might expect all sorts of unusual geophysical phenomena to be taking place for thousands of years during such a shift, including excursions of the geomagnetic field.

As for what the Sun was doing 12,000 years ago, recall that reading 5757-1 clearly states that humankind itself affects the Sun by the nature of people's thoughts and actions. This must have been the case in the latter days of Atlantis as well, some 15,000 to 11,900 years ago. Defiance of God led to societal turmoils, misuse of the powerful crystals, and volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. Nothing even remotely resembling a super galactic wave was ever mentioned in the readings. Nor is there anything about a solar conflagration event, although who is to say that one did not occur?

Consider the climatic jolt just recently documented from studies of ice cores. It occurred 14,700 years ago. "Temperatures in Greenland jumped 5˚C in less than 10 years--twice the warming that greenhouse gases are predicted to cause in the coming 100 years."9 Was this due to a sudden, massive shift in ocean circulation, or to a jerk in an otherwise smoothly proceeding pole shift, or to a solar conflagration event? Research continues. Time will tell.

Now according to reading 884-1, the climate on Atlantis changed significantly during the 19,400 to 11,940 B.P. period of progressive destruction.

Before that we find the entity was in that land now known or spoken of as the Atlantean, during those days when there were the attempts of those to bring quiet, to bring order out of chaos by the destructive forces that had made for the eruptions in the land that had divided the lands and had changed not only the temperate but to a more torrid region by the shifting of the activities of the Earth itself.

I suggest that this climatic change was due to a gradual pole shift of perhaps 10˚, as the North Pole moved from a position in northern Greenland to its present position, tracking -- roughly -- along the 37˚W meridian. I thought that such a pole shift could be the meaning of "the shifting of the activities of the Earth itself." But perhaps something else was meant. The point here is that reading 884-1 does not suggest that solar flares were the cause of the changed Atlantean climate. But the readings suggest that a pole shift commenced in 19,400 B. P. and progressed over a few thousands of years. And such a shift would provide the answer to a long-standing question in the geosciences. How do we explain the rapid onset of melting of the ice sheets in Europe, Asia, and North America that began around 19,000 B.P.?

The Cayce readings can be interpreted to suggest that the ice sheets were moved into progressively warmer climatic zones by a gradual pole shift that began with the accidental destruction of much of Atlantis in 19,400 B. P. As the poles continued to shift over the next 7,500 years (until 11,900), many of the geophysical catastrophes catalogued by LaViolette could have occurred. This does not mean that superflares were not produced on our Sun in those days. Indeed we might expect same, in view of the readings' suggestion that rebellious humans can produce disturbances on the Sun proportional to the degree of their denial of the God force in man and Nature.

Consider, then this final reading (820-1) on the reason behind and nature of the enormous eruptions on Atlantis, beginning around 19,400 years ago and extending until 11,900 B.P. See if it doesn't give us a hint, also, as to the possible origin of those "outside forces" that impacted Earth in 1936.

Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land, during those periods when there began to be the rebellious forces that disputed those acts and laws pertaining to the communications with what is termed in the present as the unseen forces - or to those hierarchies that are given rule over activities in the various forms in the Earth. [Emphasis added].

The entity then, in the name of Al-Aar, was the ruler of those forces of the Law of One; and those activities that were raised against the entity's activities by the Belzebubs (?) ....Once lost in this direction,....the entity saw in those mighty upheavals from the destructive forces used for the people from the prisms' activities and from the fires that were started for the fires of the deeper inferno that brought to the surface those destructive forces as from nature's storehouse itself.

Do we have here the answer to the meaning of "outside forces to the Earth in '36?" Were they of the unseen forces from those hierarchies of Intelligences that have been given "rule over activities in the various forms in the Earth?" In a reference to karmic penalty, Phylos says that "Man is his own judge and executioner." This seems to be but a paraphrase of Cayce reading 5148, near the beginning of this article.

Recall that faith (pistis) in the New Testament means more than belief. It means understanding on a level other a literal one. The mistake of being unfaithful, as in reading 5148, is that lack of faith leads to an inner condition that requires us to repeatedly encounter "adverse" experiences until we can understand life in a new way.

Hence the necessity.... that the faith [higher understanding]....in a divinity that is WITHIN be held -- that shapes the destinies of individual experiences in such a way that the opportunities that come....are those things which if taken correctly make for the greater soul development.

Most scientists do not believe in any life after death -- or reincarnation for that matter. They are an example of faithless people today. That is their Saadducee-like leaven of falsity which Christ said to beware of in Matthew 16. Indeed, most scientists cannot countenance "soul development."

All this leads us to a Cayce Earth-change reading (1152-11, 08/13/41) given for a New York City woman wondering where to live and what to do. She was a person full of faith.

As indicated, these choices should be made rather in self. Virginia Beach or the area is much safer as a definite place. But the work of the entity should embrace most all of the areas from the east to the west coast, in its persuading -- not as a preacher, nor as one bringing a message of doom, but as a loving warning to all groups, clubs .....those of every form of club, that there needs be -- in their activities -- definite work towards the knowledge of the power of the Son of God's activity in the affairs of men.

And what is the extent of that power? In 1931, a male musical conductor asked Cayce for information "in order to be sincerely convinced that we are contacting the highest forces" (2897-4, 08/14/31). When the man asked if the entranced Cayce could contact a specific disincarnate individual, as a means of proving Cayce's high powers, the reply was startling:

Not under these conditions; for I, Michael, speak as the Lord of the Way. Bow thine heads, O ye peoples, that would seek to know the mysteries of that life as makes for those FALTERING steps in men's lives when not applied in the manner as has been laid down. O ye stiff-necked and adulterous generation! Who WILL approach the Throne that ye may know that there is NONE that surpasses the Son of Man in His approach to HUMAN experience in the material world!
Here we have described for us the scope of the power of the activity of the Son of God (or "Son of Man" as Jesus spoke of himself) in the affairs of our lives today.

The above reading continues, with archangel Michael again being questioned directly.

A. To be sure, it may be answered. It will not here.

Q. Why will you not answer these questions, when I want to make sure in order to help?

A. He that seeketh a sign when he standeth in the presence of the Highest authority in the Way may NOT be given a sign, unless he has done in the body that which entitles him to same.

This exchange between the creature and the archangel has a significant bearing on our recognition and interpretation of both psychic and scientific signs of coming Earth changes. Who amongst us can know a true sign when he or she encounters one? And once recognized, who can properly interpret the import of a sign for humankind? Only those who have "done in the body what entitles him [or her] to same."

The following reading (1602-5, 11/28/39) was given for a 41-year-old housewife who listed her religious preference as "Truth." It answers further our questions, asserting in one place that

"....the interpretation of signs and the omens becomes an individual experience, each soul -- as this entity -- then is given the privilege, the opportunity to live such an activity in its relationships to its fellow man; filling, fulfilling, and interpreting that which has been indicated, in such measures and such manners as to bring hope and not fear, peace and not hate, that which is constructive not destructive, into the lives and minds and hearts of others."

The request that the woman posed to Cayce was, "It has been indicated that the period immediately ahead is one of change in many fields -- politically, economically, and geologically. Will you clarify these predictions for me, and give directions for me at this time....?"

As in relationships to changes, - these are indicated not only through prophecies but through astrological aspects, as well as through the thought and intent of persons and groups in high places; bringing about these things, these conditions, in what might be said to be the fullness of time.

However, since the advent of the Son of Man in the earth, giving man an advocate with the Father, there has been an influence that may counteract much of that which has been indicated that would come as retribution, or in filling the law of an evolution of ideas and the relationship of material things to the thoughts and intents of individuals and groups.....There enters much, then, that might become questions as respecting....the activities of groups and individuals who have acted and who are to act as a counterbalance to these happenings in the Earth.

There are indeed questions that we might have of those "groups and individuals who have acted and who are to act as a counterbalance" to the happenings in the Earth since 1939, the date of this reading. Among them are: "Why did you allow the following to happen: WWII, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the Gulf War of 1990, America's brutal treatment of Panamanian civilians in the 1989 'Noriega War,' the Bosnian War, the holocausts in Germany, Cambodia, and Africa, and America's torching of its own citizens at Waco? Did humanity suffer these horrors because we are a selfish, stiff-necked, and adulterous generation, unable to change for the better without going through the fire?"

If so, then perhaps we will need Earth changes to purge us of our seeking after the false gods of materialism, pleasure, and power. For we do understand that "matter, mind, body, learns only through experience" (5148-2, 5/29/44). And many of us may need the experiences of Earth changes for our souls' growth, to show us the folly of preoccupation with the sensual side of life.

There is an interesting Cayce reading (5757-1) on the cause of sun spots, and their effects on the Earth and humanity. Among the lines worth citing are these:

... the sun , the moon, the planets have their marching orders from the divine, and they move in same. Man alone is given that birthright of free will. He alone may defy his God! How many of you have questioned that in thine own heart, and know that thy disobedience in the earth reflects unto the heavenly hosts and thus influences that activity of God's command! For YOU -- as souls and sons and daughters of God -- DEFY the living God! As the sun is made to shed light and heat upon God's children in the earth, it is then of that composition of which man is made, or that termed the earth; yet, as ye have seen and know, there is solid matter, there is liquid, there is vapor. All are one in their various stages of consciousness or of activity for what? Man -- GODLY MAN! Yet when these become as in defiance to that light which was commanded to march, to show forth the Lord's glory, His beauty, His mercy, His hope -- yea, His patience -- do ye wonder then that there become reflected upon even the face of the sun those turmoils and strifes that have been and that are the sin of man? Whence comest this? All that was made to show to the sons, the souls, that God IS mindful of His children. How do they [sunspots] affect man? How does a cross word affect thee? How does anger, jealousy, hate, animosity, affect thee AS a son of God? If thou art the father of same, oft ye cherish same. If thou art the recipient of same from others, thy brethren, how does it affect thee? Much as that confusion which is caused upon the earth by that which appears as a sunspot. The disruptions of communications of all natures between men is what? Remember the story, the allegory if ye choose to call it such, of the tower of Babel.

Evidence for Mankind's Effect on the Sun?

The sunspot cycle as we know it today appeared after 1715 and has continued ever since. Just prior to 1715, there was a dramatic cessation of the sunspot cycle for the 70-year period from 1645 to 1715. "Yet," according to E. Parker (Scientific American, 9/1975), "the prejudice [is] that the 11-year sunspot cycle with its thousands of spots in each cycle is the norm. During the 70 years of sunspot inactivity, observers had to wait years to see a single sunspot, whereas now there are usually a few spots showing even during the minimum of the sunspot cycle." Also according to Parker ("The Physics of the Sun," Physics Today, June 2000, p. 31),

"The C-14 record shows that over the last 70 centuries, the Sun has been without normal activity for 10 centuries and hyperactive for 8 centuries. The other 52 centuries were variable but more or less 'normal.' The most recent quiescent period was from 1645 to 1715, ....subsequently called the Maunder Minimum after its discoverer. The 12th century Medieval Maximum is the most recent epoch of hyperactivity, and one can only guess how the Sun behaved at that time. Such periods of abnormal activity are without explanation, as are the variations within the so-called normal centuries."

And what happened immediately before 1645? There were two, 15-year cycles of sunspots, which coincided with the end of the Thirty Year's War. This war has been termed the most horrible episode in Western history prior to the 20th Century. "But although it did not officially terminate until the Peace of Westphalia, in 1648, peace overtures had actually begun some few years earlier, and the worst of the carnage came to an end with the conclusion of the Swedish-Danish War in 1645 -- the same year, it will be noted, that marked the beginning of the 70-year hiatus in sunspot activity" (H. Church, 1976, A.R.E. Journal, Virginia Beach, VA, 23451).

What notable evidence do we have of "man's inhumanity to man" during the 70-year sunspot hiatus? In Europe, the Battle of Blenheim (1704), and the Cossack Rebellion (1648). But there were no wars of mass destruction until the beginning of the Napoleonic Era. Oddly, in an address to the American Geophysical Union on sunspots, J. Eddy, mentioned that the 70-year lull coincided almost exactly with the reign of King Louis XIV of France, from 1643 to 1715. This king gave France the Louvre and the Royal Library, the Paris Observatory and the Academy of Science. At Versailles, he constructed a palace that became the greatest showplace on Earth. Louis XIV, posthumously named "The Sun King," reigned in a Europe that was the center of civilization. He led the Christian world out of the exhaustion of the Thirty Year's War and into an era of scientific and cultural progress, and expanding prosperity. Known as the "politest of kings," he displayed great patience with others. Is there a true connection here, between the relatively peaceful reign of Louis XIV and an almost sunspot-free solar surface? One could argue either way. Although no large wars of mass destruction occurred, France did fight four wars during Louis's reign, and dominated Europe's seas for thirty years.

Because Louis XIV was but four years old when he became king, all power was initially placed in the hands of the able minister, Cardinal Mazarin, an Italian, until his death in 1661. Mazarin seems to have been a remarkable man of peace, handling as he did international squabbles and domestic problems with skill and patience. Thus, the Mazarin/Louis XIV reign may have calmed both the lead nation on Earth, and the Sun as well, during the sunspot hiatus. Or is this but a spurious speculation of convenience?

If we view European "masterpiece" paintings made during the time of the Maunder Minimum, we encounter the calming scenes of Dutch, French, and Italian landscape painters like Lorrain, Aelbert, Dughet, Hooch, Huysum, Neer, Ruisdael, and Ruysdael. Jan Van Goyen's, An Estuary With Fishing Boats and Two Frigates, was done (c.1650-56) with "colors strangely muted and extremely narrow in range;....the sails are shades of brown and the sea is calm, reflecting and complying with the subtle gray harmonies of the large sky...."

The Demise of The Current Sea-Floor Spreading And Plate-Tectonics Theory

To geologists it is no longer a hypothesis. It is now a theory. Every Earth scientist believes it is true. Right? And what is “it”? What I’m talking about is the theory of sea-floor-spreading and plate tectonics.

As a result of a comprehensive review published late last year, sea floor spreading and its plate tectonics corollary are shown not to explain correctly the origin of our planet’s ocean basins and continents. And what if the current “theory” is incorrect? If it proves to be wrong, a huge barrier is removed to the acceptance of the Cayce readings’ story on the lost continents of Atlantis and Lemuria.

No longer will it be delusional to consider vertical crustal movements to explain the origin of Earth’s ocean basins. “Elevator tectonics” will be in, and “shuffle-board” (plate) tectonics will be out, almost entirely. Although sea-floor spreading will still have a small place in geoscientists’ understanding of certain aspects of the origin and maintenance of continents and ocean basins, the really big picture, of elevation of ocean floors and - to a lesser degree - continents will rest upon a model that is driven by mantle surges.

To understand this radical departure in our understanding of mantle convective behavior, and its effects on Earth’s crustal structures, we need to review briefly the current model of sea-floor spreading and plate tectonics.

Current Sea-Floor Spreading Hypothesis

As shown in Figure 1, geologists currently believe that thermal plumes of hot magma are semi-continuously moving upward beneath ridges found in all of the world’s oceans. This semi-fluid basalt rock is exuded here and there along a ridge crest. The process forces sea-floor crustal plates on either side away from the ocean ridge and toward the continents. The continents may either be carried along by the adjacent sea floor, or the spreading sea floor may under-thrust a relatively immovable continent. See Figure 1 for examples of both hypothetical situations.

A given pulse of magma, over a relatively short distance along an ocean ridge, becomes magnetized when the semi-molten material cools below a specific temperature. Iron minerals in the basalt magma are then frozen in the rock and they point in the direction of the prevailing magnetic field. Geophysical survey methods can then used to detect whether the sea-floor rocks were magnetized in a normal geomagnetic field (like today’s) or in a reversed field. Because Earth’s magnetic field is moving and/or reversing through time, magnetic orientation directions of basalt exudations allow the sea-floor rock slabs be correlated with one another. This process results in a sort of “tape-recording” of the formation and movement of rock masses of the spreading sea floor - or so the hypothesis goes.

The crystallized rock of each new exudation then splits in two along an axis coinciding with the central valley of the ocean ridge. In Figure 2, two brown-colored slabs of newly crystallized, ocean-floor basalt are separated by a black line representing the central valley of a mid-ocean ridge.

The presence of magnetic stripes on the ocean floor has been thought to be prima facie evidence for sea-floor spreading, and the basis for the plate tectonics (PT) model of crustal motion. Note in the diagram that segments of magnetic stripes of the same age are confined on either end by transform faults that run perpendicular to the ocean ridge. It was assumed early-on in the development of the PT theory that striped segments of the same age were offset from one another due to different amounts of subsequent effusions of magma at the ridge crest. Larger effusions would push the plates farther apart than would smaller ones.

Here then, is an abbreviated description of the sea-floor-spreading and plate tectonics model for the dynamic behavior of the crust and underlying mantle. Most geologists have assumed this model correct for the last 25 years or so. Its acceptance by geoscientists has, quite naturally, caused great difficulty for those who want to accept the Cayce readings’ story of Atlantis and Lemuria. How could there ever have been continents in the Atlantic or the Pacific oceans where there are now ocean floors? For doesn’t all the evidence point to stability of the submerged ocean floors and to the basically horizontal movement of crustal plates the world over?

Problems with the Conventional Model, According to Prof. MacKenzie Keith (Now Deceased)

Now comes a convincing treatise on what may really be happening in the realm of global crust and upper-mantle dynamics. I will be basing the rest of this article on MacKenzie Keith’s comprehensive examination of sea floor spreading and plate tectonics, published last fall.1 His paper has about 300 references and is the product of Keith’s life of research and teaching in the field, laboratory, and classroom. Upon his death last year he was Emeritus Professor of Geochemistry at Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Keith begins modestly by saying that although the essential features of the PT hypothesis are widely accepted, some aspects of the model are open to question. Quite simply, they conflict with known properties of Earth’s materials and the global crust/mantle dynamic system. Keith’s first objection is to the hypothesis that the plates are internally rigid. If a stress is applied to one side, it is transmitted to the opposite side with no deformation of the plate interior. But this is inconsistent with the results of experiments on rock strength and with the factors that govern the strength of large masses of rock over geologic time. Actually, large rock masses are weak, and they deform under the influence of heat.

Keith next states that there is a need to re-examine the hypothesis of upwelling of magma beneath the axis of an ocean ridge. Computer models of heat flow beneath ocean ridges are based upon evidence of a wide plume of ascending molten basalt to produce the magma effusions along the ridge. But how, asks Keith, can broad plumes generate the narrow zone of axial ridge volcanism, the “knife-edge” separation of adjacent flow regimes on either side of a transform fault (see Fig. 2), and the unbelievable “overlapping spreading centers” advocated by some geologists?

Further questions are related to the concept of ocean floor spreading and the tape-recorder model for generating the oceanic magnetic stripes. Different rock chemical compositions are often found on opposite flanks of the ocean ridges. The rocks should be of the same composition if they come from the same magma effusion. And what of the failure to find the required narrow zone of crustal accretion, with the property of dividing neatly so that matching halves move to either side?

Keith now moves ahead with certainty to answer these questions. He asserts that no spreading is required to account for the observed sea-floor features. Instead, the oceanic magnetic stripes can be explained by narrowing of a formerly very wide mid-ocean volcanic zone and by consequent crestward migration of something he calls the “blocking temperature,” discussed below. He hypothesizes that a Mesozoic surge of mantle flow and volcanic- zone expansion that peaked in Cretaceous time (between 66 and 144 million years ago) produced a different “volcanic face” on Earth. Elevated ocean floors then began to collapse over millions of years, leading to the features we find today.

Finally, Keith postulates an alternative model of upper mantle flow to the current one. His conceptual model involves mantle upwelling beneath continents, flow of mantle from beneath continents to beneath oceans (for Atlantic Ocean type margins), and convergent sub-ocean mantle flow toward the axes of mid-ocean ridges. He asserts that the mid-ocean ridges are principal boundaries of convection cells in the mantle. He then summarizes a wide variety of information in the rest of his review paper to conclude that “the weight of evidence clearly supports the alternative model [his model] and is contrary to the [sea-floor] spreading model of plate tectonics.”

To continue now to elucidate Keith’s explanation of the origin of the magnetic stripes on the ocean floor, we quote from his p. 268, as follows.

“An essential feature of the proposed ocean ridge system is that all of the abnormal features that resulted from the Mesozoic surge of mantle flow:…uplift of the ridge, accelerated volcanism, broadening of the active volcanic zone, were subject to gradual Mesozoic to Recent relaxation and retreat, toward a steady-state system, a predictable effect of the slowing of convective overturn and volcanism, and the gradual diminishing, via return-flow gyres, of the accumulated large volume of sub-ridge subduction mixtures. The age-denominated sequence of magnetic anomalies, conventionally attributed to sea-floor spreading, is proposed to result, instead, from gradual narrowing of the active volcanic zone.”

Magnetic Banding According to Keith’s Cooling Model. Figure 4 may help to explain the above quote, as it applies specifically to magnetic banding. The basic idea is that a narrowing of the zone of mid-ocean ridge basalt volcanism (Fig. 4, reddish portions of bars) will be accompanied by crestward migration of the blocking temperature isotherm (Fig. 3). This is the temperature at which the magnetic minerals acquire remnant magnetism and thus record reversals of Earth’s magnetic field.

Keith proposes that fracture zones and transform faults (see Fig. 2) are ocean-floor surface expressions of the boundaries of “convective rolls” in the underlying mantle. Such rolls are judged to be “the principal form of secondary convection within the upper boundary layer of sub-ridge mantle, a low-viscosity region estimated at 75-125 km thick….” (p. 240). Translating Keith’s words for the non-geologist reader, imagine that the primary, heat-driven flow of the uppermost mantle is outward from beneath a continent like Africa, and toward the MAR. As the mantle moves there is subsequent heat loss in the oceanic region. In the downstream region of lateral flow and heat loss there is development of an upper mantle boundary layer that eventually becomes unstable and yields a regular pattern of upper mantle “rolls” aligned in the direction of principal flow. Boundaries that develop along each edge of a roll result in ocean floor fractures and transform faults. (A transform fault is merely a near-vertical surface over which one side slips past the other, but is unique in that the displacement suddenly stops or changes form).

To end his description of the formation of magnetic stripes on the sea-floor, Keith cites relevant laboratory, numerical modeling, and field measurements. He concludes by saying that the evidence is consistent with his proposed upper-mantle convergent flow and contrary to the plate tectonics model of mid-ocean upwelling and divergent flow.

To quote Keith on the implications of Figures 3 and 4, “the proposed ridge-cooling model of magnetic stripe formation does not involve spreading or continental splitting, and there are no implications regarding continental drift, except that the continents are presumed to be floating in the mantle, each focusing one or more upwelling plumes, and free to move in response to changes in the global [mantle] convection pattern. The principal continental drift will be related to mantle surge episodes, and there will be a strong tendency for continents to re-establish their separate positions as part of a return to a steady-state flow regime.”

Keith’s Hypothetical Model of Proposed Mid-Ocean Ridge Dynamics and Structure

Keith proposes a structure for a mid-ocean ridge to satisfy geophysical observations and his intuition about how, dynamically, the ocean-floor crust and underlying mantle behave. He calls this structure a “flexload syncline.” A syncline is simply a fold in Earth’s rocks, the core of which contains younger material and which is generally concave upward. The adjective flexload is used to emphasize the effects of gravity-produced flexure on the crustal stress regime. In his proposed ocean-ridge model, the structure of the crestal zone is attributed mainly to gravitational deformation that results from two types of loading: crestward-increasing volcanic loading and downward increasing densification. Keith cites evidence that major flexload sinking “is not restricted to the near-axial zone but is broadly effective beneath the ridge flanks and formerly extended over the full width of Mesozoic to Early Tertiary ocean ridges.”

Incidental, almost, to Keith’s efforts to buttress one of his points about a former emergent continent in the Atlantic ocean is the material that he summarizes on former shallow water or emergent sites sampled by the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP). The sampling sites are currently underwater in the region of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (MAR). Locations for three of these sites (Keith, 2001, Table 1) are shown by large red dots on Figure 6, a relief map of the Azores region we have used in previous articles on THC’s website. The red dots are rather large because, while the sampling coordinates that are listed give degrees north latitude, they do not give degrees west longitude. It is understood, however, that the samples were taken in the vicinity of the MAR axial valley, clearly visible on Figure 6.

And they suggest that this volcanic terrain has sunk a minimum of 12,300 ft since being exposed to the atmosphere.

Figure 7 shows four map views of a northern portion of the narrowing active volcanic zone of the slowly cooling, contracting, and sinking oceanic continent called here “Atlantis.”

Suffice it to say that Keith believed that the essence of his proposed global model “is that oceanic crust is a principal reservoir and that selective recycling of its components is a counter to weathering and riverine [sediment] transport from continent to ocean, and a key process in the self-regulating Earth system” (p. 282). He has little to say about the forces that drove the Mesozoic mantle surge, other than to say that there is a strong possibility that it may have been triggered by a cluster of meteorite impacts in the western equatorial Pacific. These impacts may have reactivated lower mantle, during a surge-promoted change from layered to whole-mantle convection. Deep “roll-margin” mantle recycling associated with the proposed impact-triggered change from layered to whole-mantle convection, and resultant mantle surge is deduced to have formed a range of mixtures that apparently constituted a source of Cretaceous basaltic magma and oceanic crust.

REVISITING EARTH'S MAGNETIC POLE POSITIONS

Since publishing our article, “Did The Poles Begin To Shift In 2000 To 2001 A.D.?,” two studies have appeared that report new positions of the north1 and south2 magnetic poles.

The reported pole positions are from on-site measurements of the locations of vertical inclinations (dips) of the magnetic field lines. In a paper3 published this past February, however, NOAA’s W. H. Campbell advises that “these reported positions are neither magnetic poles nor geophysically important positions.”

Upheavals to our scientific understanding of Earth’s geophysical phenomena come along regularly. Campbell’s bombshell is only the most recent one. Recall that we wrote about a new understanding of plate tectonics and its support for Cayce’s readings on Atlantis, as afforded by Prof. MacKenzie Keith. Like Keith, Campbell is a recognized expert in his field and someone to listen to. He published a book entitled, “Earth Magnetism,” in 2001 (Academic Press).

The Reality behind Campbell’s Assertion

To explain his statement (in bold above), Campbell begins by reminding us of a few facts about our planet’s magnetic field.

“When a magnetic field can be represented by an axially symmetric dipole pattern similar to an electric field from a pair of equal and opposite electric charges, the axis of this magnetic field is called a pole….With the magnetic dipole center location corresponding to the Earth’s geographic center, and the Earth completely spherical, the exit position of the magnetic dipole corresponded to the location of a fully vertical dip of the field.

Global maritime exploration that started around the time of the epic 1492 Columbus voyage greatly depended on the ship compass for navigation and on magnetic declination maps for guidance. It was only natural that considerable interest in special expeditions to locate the mysterious arctic and antarctic Earth magnetic poles subsequently arose.

Unfortunately, however, the Earth is not completely spherical and the center of Earth’s geomagnetic dipole field is not co-located with the geographic center of the Earth. These facts bear heavily on the scientific value of the many polar vertical magnetic field locations surveyed over so many years.

Without getting too detailed, scientists compute the Earth’s field with respect to Earth’s center, for mathematical convenience. Errors arise in representing the dipole field this way, but, on average, about 90 percent of a local internal field may be represented by this computed, International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF). But the analysis that produces the IGRF dipole necessarily results in many multipole components. Campbell points out when a separate analysis is then performed to allow the dipole axis center and tilt of the dipole to vary, “it is found that that the Earth’s magnetic field is best represented by a tilted dipole whose center is considerably offset from the Earth’s center. This tilted eccentric magnetic dipole has a field line that is not a pole marker, yet it exists perpendicular to Earth’s surface (Figure 1).”

Now Campbell explains that there are two significant geophysical phenomena that result from the eccentric location of Earth’s dipole field. The first has to do with what is known as the South-Atlantic/South-American anomaly of low field strength. It seems that Earth’s dipole field is offset here in the direction opposite from this anomaly. Because the actual dipole of the Earth's geomagnetic field "pierces" the planet at an angle that is both offset from and at an angle to the rotational axis of the Earth on the Australian side of the planet, the field lines going through the Earth must travel a further distance to emerge on the South American side. That makes the lines of force on that side of the planet significantly weaker, thus accounting for the anomaly.

The other significant geophysical factor is that the high-latitude particles that bombard the polar region during geomagnetic storms are guided by the eccentric dipole field pattern. This results in an oval aural center that locates the true magnetic pole position. This oval center is only slightly modified by seasonal or “disturbance-level” magnetospheric conditions.

Campbell now lists several problems with the pole positions given by the authors of the articles mentioned at the outset. [Newitt and Others1 deal with north magnetic pole (NMP) positions, and Barton with the SMP.2] The vertical inclinations (dips) of the magnetic field given by these authors are not markers of the magnetic poles of the Earth. There are no significant geophysical processes attending the locations of the reported dips. Short periods of springtime or summertime measurements in areas of solar-terrestrial activity are insufficient to represent the main field value to compare with the IGRF model field that is derived from detailed global observations. A different month, day, or changed conditions would each have provided different vertical-field locations.

The magnetic jerk that Newitt and Others linked to the rapid motion of the NMP “is considered to be a phenomenon arising in the outer-core source region for the Earth’s magnetic field. As such, a large set of global responses is required, not just the vertical field measurement at one location on one day…..A proper method for investigating a possible magnetic jerk would be to follow the changes in the eccentric dipole location.”

Campbell concludes that the vertical dip locations reported in the previous articles,1,2and which we ourselves used to infer that the apparent rapid motion of the NMP was related to a magnetic jerk, are not important for the knowledgeable scientific activities of today’s world.

Needless to say, Campbell’s tersely cogent paper has left a lot of geophysicists full of embarrassment to think that they could have concerned themselves with “magnetic pole positions” of such dubious usefulness for so many years. We consider ourselves to be part of a rather large and somewhat embarrassed group of commentators on Earth’s geomagnetic field.

On a related note, we hope that this article by Campbell will put a damper on those many people who have spoken or written so excitedly about “the rapidly shifting magnetic poles,” and “Cayce’s” pole shift prediction. That prediction, in reading 3976-15, does not deal with a shift of the magnetic poles any more than the present locations of vertical magnetic dip lines accurately describe the locations of the north and south poles of Earth’s magnetic field dipole. Reading 3976-15 deals with a shift in Earth’s rotational poles. And when it comes to concerns about today’s rapidly shifting, northern vertical dip location of the geomagnetic field, consider our analysis about the last significant magnetic field excursion in the northern hemisphere.

What some people call the Earth's north magnetic pole (NMP) is right now on an "excursion." It is not on a flip trip because the movement of the core has begun to slow down or otherwise behave strangely.

Have we any evidence of past excursions of Earth's magnetic north pole? Yes, we do.

The evidence comes from ancient geomagnetic pole locations of the dipole field, as determined from remnant magnetism measured in (oriented) specimens of rocks, sediments, and archaeological objects. The geomagnetic field directions at the specimens' sampling locations are parallel to their measured remnant magnetization directions.

Determinations of locations of the ancient north poles discussed below will be off by probably no more than a few hundred miles or so from the true, ancient pole locations.

It is entitled "Ezekiel's Vision: Visual Evidence of Sterno-Etrussia Geomagnetic Excursion?" Authors of the earlier article present arguments showing that coronal auroras can occur at low latitudes under a condition of increased geomagnetic-dipole field strength. From this standpoint they give an interpretation of Ezekiel's vision (the Bible's Book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament). The location of Ezekiel's vision was about 100 km south of Babylon, or about 32ºN and 45ºE.

Auroral specialists believe that Ezekiel's vision was inspired by a very strong magnetic storm accompanied by coronal auroras at low latitudes. Scientists have been investigating this possibility since 1973. The evidence for it is brought together in the March 4, 2003 EOS article. It's central thesis is that the Sterno-Etrussia geomagnetic excursion , which occurred 2200-2800 years ago, is the cause of the coronal auroras seen by Ezekiel at low latitudes.

To date, evidence of the Sterno-Etrussia excursion has been found in the directions of magnetized mineral grains in oriented archaeologic specimens, as well as in specimens of marine, lake, and continental sediments from 15 widely distributed localities. The magnetic north pole during the excursion of 2800 to 2200 years before the present (B.P.) moved from high to low latitudes in the longitude sector of the meridian at which Babylon is located. Coronal auroral displays (cf. Fig. 3) could be observed at Babylon’s latitudes during the period of Ezekiel's vision, regardless of the levels of solar and geomagnetic activities. And during moderate disturbances, the inhabitants of Babylon and regions to the south could witness colorful displays of coronal auroras that are typically observed only by inhabitants of the polar regions.

From the standpoint of rapid magnetic pole movement, which is where we started in this section, it is clear that the north magnetic pole (NMP) position of 2800 to 2200 B.P. was a very long way off from the location of today’s NMP. The excursion path (Fig. 2 of the 3/4/03 EOS article) reveals not only a very rapid movement of the NMP during this 600-year-long interval, but also an NMP excursion of considerable distance. There are, in fact, some six independently determined NMP excursion locations in the southern hemisphere, three of which are in the vicinity of 60ºS and 0ºE. We know, of course, that the geographic poles neither flipped, nor shifted, during that period of time (2800-2600 B.P).

Who are the Illuminati? Where did they come from? How have they “evolved” over time. What is the “symbiotic relationship”, if any, that exists between the Aryans and the Serpent People?

In summary, a race of interbreeding bloodlines, a race within a race in fact, were centered in the Middle and Near East in the ancient world and, over the thousands of years since, have expanded their power across the globe. I will therefore refer to this group as the Brotherhood

This race is described as ‘the gods’ in the Old Testament texts and other works and in oral traditions of antiquity. I can hear followers of the Bible denying that their book speaks of ‘the gods’.

According to Sitchin’s translations (and others) the Texts say that the Sumerian civilization, from which many features of modern society derive, was a “gift from the gods”. Not mythical gods, but physical ones who lived among them. The Tablets call these gods the AN.UNNAK.KI. The ancient text known as the Book of Enoch also calls the gods ‘the Watchers’, as did the Egyptians. The Egyptian name for their gods, the Neteru, literally translates as Watchers and they said that their gods came in heavenly boats.

According to Zecharia Sitchin, the tablets describe how the Anunnaki came from a planet called Nibiru which he believes has a 3,600 year elliptical orbit that takes it between Jupiter and Mars and then out into far space beyond Pluto. Modern science has identified a body it calls Planet X which has been located beyond Pluto and is believed to be part of this solar system. But an elliptical orbit would be incredibly unstable and difficult to sustain. Scientists I trust believe that Sitchin is mistaken in his Nibiru theory, though his main themes about the Anunnaki are correct.

Later the Tablets describe how the Anunnaki created bloodlines to rule humanity on their behalf and these, I suggest, are the families still in control of the world to this day. The Sumerian Tablets describe how kingship was granted to humanity by the Anunnaki.

They are of the same tribe and genetically related. This is why the Brotherhood families have always been obsessed with interbreeding, just as the Sumerian Tablets describe the Anunnaki. They are not interbreeding through snobbery, but to hold a genetic structure which gives them certain abilities, especially the ability to ‘shape-shift’ and manifest in other forms. I’ll come to this in more detail shortly.

The Tablets describe how humans were given the ability to procreate by Enki and this led to an explosion in the human population which threatened to swamp the Anunnaki, who were never great in number. The Anunnaki had many internal conflicts and high-tech wars with each other, as the Enlil and Enki factions fought for control.

All over the world in every native culture you will find stories of a Great Flood and the Sumerian Tablets are no different. Sitchin says they tell how the Anunnaki left the planet in flying craft, as an enormous surge of water wiped out much of humanity. There is no doubt that an unimaginable catastrophe or more likely catastrophes were visited upon the Earth between approximately 11,000 and 4,000 BC.

All of this closely correlates with the legends of Atlantis and Mu or Lemuria: two vast continents, one in the Atlantic and the other in the Pacific, which many people believe were ruled by highly advanced races. The continents are said to have disappeared under the sea leaving only islands like the Azores as remnants of their former scale and glory.

To this day this secret network has passed on much knowledge to the chosen few while denying that privilege to the mass of the people. Official history dismisses Plato’s contention that such a continent existed and there are apparent historical discrepancies in his accounts, but there is geological support for his basic theme. The Azores, which some believe were part of Atlantis, lie on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge which is connected to a fracture line that encircles the planet

This ‘central sun’ or galactic sun is sometimes referred to as the Black Sun. It takes about 26,000 years for the solar system to complete a circuit of the galactic centre and this is known in the Indian culture as a yuga. For half of those 26,000 years the Earth is tilted towards the Black Sun, the light source, and for the second 13,000 years it is tilted away, some researchers believe. These cycles are therefore very different as the planet is bathed in positive light for 13,000 years and then moves into the ‘darkness’ for the next 13,000.

This fundamentally affects the energy in which we all live. Interestingly, it was 13,000 years ago that the Golden Age would appear to have concluded in cataclysm and conflict, and today, with the 13,000 year cycle of ‘darkness’ reaching its conclusion, there is a rapid global spiritual awakening and incredible events await us in the next few years. We are entering the light again. So there was a fantastic cataclysm around 13,000 years ago which brought an end to the high-tech civilizations of the Golden Age. But was it the only one? The evidence suggests not.

Brian Desborough is a researcher and. He has been involved in aerospace research and has been employed in this and other scientific research by many companies. He has compiled some highly detailed and compelling information about the ancient world and its connection to the Brotherhood manipulation of today. While he worked for a major United States corporation in the 1960s, their physicists completed their own independent studies which suggested that about 4,800 BC a huge body, which we now know as Jupiter, careered into our solar system.

The outer planets were thrown into disarray and Jupiter eventually crashed into a planet which orbited between the present Jupiter and Mars. The physicists said the remains of this planet became the asteroid belt and that part of Jupiter broke away to become what we now call Venus. As Venus, then a vast chunk of matter, was projected into space, it destroyed the atmosphere and life of Mars before it was caught by the Earth’s gravitational field, the study claimed. Venus made several orbits of the Earth before its momentum hurled it into its current position in the solar system. It was those orbits, the physicists said, that brought devastation and a tidal wave about 4,800 BC.

They believed, as Brian Desborough does, that before this time Mars orbited where the Earth is now and the Earth was much closer to the Sun. The brilliant light of Venus as it passed close to the Earth may have led to the idea of Lucifer, the ‘light bringer’. The most ancient Mesopotamian and Central American records do not include Venus in their planetary accounts, only later does it appear. There was an obsession with Venus in many cultures, with human sacrifices being made to it.

Before this incredible cataclysm, and/or one of the others, the Earth had a uniform tropical climate, as fossilized plants have shown. This would have been changed not only by the arrival of the ice on the surface, but also by the destruction of a canopy of water vapour around the Earth, as described in Genesis and other ancient texts. This canopy would have ensured a uniform tropical climate everywhere, but suddenly it was gone.

Immanuel Velikovsky, caused outrage among the scientific establishment in the 1950s by suggesting that the Earth had been through enormous upheavals when Venus which was then, he said, a comet, careered through this part of the solar system before settling into its present orbit.

He said that the ‘comet’ Venus had collided with Mars as it careered through the solar system. Velikovsky’s time for these events was about 1,500 BC. Different researchers dismiss each other’s findings because they suggest very different periods for major upheavals when in truth there were almost certainly a number of cataclysms in that window of 11,000 to 1,500 BC, and even more recently. The study by the physicists also said that Mars was devastated by these events involving Venus. They felt Mars was thrown out of orbit and followed a highly unstable elliptical orbit which took it between the Earth and the Moon every 56 years.

The last of these passes appears to have been about 1,500 BC when the great volcano exploded on the Greek island of Santorini and the Minoan civilization on Crete passed into history. In this same period of 1,600-1,500 BC, ocean levels dropped about 20 per cent, glacial lakes formed in California, and this was most likely the time when the vast lake in the fertile Sahara was emptied and the desert we see today began to be formed.28

Eventually, Mars settled into its present orbit, but by then life on its surface had been obliterated. Yet again the evidence on Mars supports all this. The Mars Pathfinder mission found that Martian rocks lack sufficient erosion to have been on the surface for more than 10,000 years.29

Brian Desborough believes, like the physicists he knew and worked with, that the Earth was once much nearer the Sun than it is today and that Mars orbited where the Earth now resides. If, as is claimed, the deep canyons on Mars’s surface were caused by massive torrents of water, there had to have been a warmer climate on Mars, because today it is so cold that water would freeze instantly and the near-vacuum atmosphere would make the water instantly vaporise.30 Desborough says that the Earth’s closer proximity to the Sun demanded that the first Earth humans were the black races with the pigmentation to cope with the much fiercer rays of the Sun.

Desborough says that Mars, then with a climate very much like ours, had a white race before the Venus cataclysm. His research has convinced him that the white Martians built the pyramids which have been recorded on Mars and they went to war with an advanced black race to conquer the Earth. These wars, he says, are the wars of the ‘gods’ described in endless ancient texts, not least the Hindu Vedas.

Desborough adds that after the cataclysm, the white Martians who had settled on Earth were stranded here without their technology and with their home planet devastated. These white Martians, he says, became the white peoples of the Earth. Fascinatingly, some scientists claim that when white people are immersed in sensory deprivation tanks for long periods, their circadian rhythm has a frequency of 24 hours 40 minutes, which corresponds not to the rotational period of the Earth, but of Mars! 32 This is not the case with non-white races who are in tune with the Earth’s rotation.

Desborough believes that these white Martians were the highly advanced race of the ancient world known as the Phoenicians or Aryans and they began the long process of returning to their former technological power after the upheavals which destroyed the surface of their own planet and devastated this one. My own research supports this basic theme, although, like everyone seeking the truth of what happened, I have many questions.

A white race, known as the Phoenicians and other names, was certainly the ‘brains’ behind the Egyptian civilization, at least from the period around 3,000 BC, and the Giza Plateau, where the Great Pyramid was built, was formerly known as El-Kahira, a name which derived from the Arabic noun, El-Kahir, their name for... Mars.

I think there is truth in all the views summarized in this chapter of the cataclysmic upheavals the Earth has suffered in the period between 11,000 and 1,500 BC. The first one ended the Golden Age and obliterated the high-tech civilizations that had existed before then. The extraterrestrial races either left the planet beforehand or survived at high altitudes or by going deep within the Earth. The same happened with the later cataclysm. Many of the extraterrestrials, and most Earth humans, did not survive these events. Those that did were left with the job of starting all over again without, at least at first, the technology available before.

The survivors fell into two main categories, those of mostly extraterrestrial origin who retained the advanced knowledge, and humans, the slave race in general, who did not. The former also fell into two camps. There were those who wished to use their knowledge positively and communicate their information to humanity, and those who sought to hoard the knowledge and use it to manipulate and control. The struggle between those two groups over the use of the same knowledge continues to this very day. As societies recovered from those upheavals of 11,000 BC, the other cataclysms brought more devastation over the thousands of years that followed and humanity was faced with many new beginnings.

One common theme throughout, however, has been the manipulation of humanity by an intellectually, though not spiritually, advanced race or races of extraterrestrial origin. On that subject, I must now introduce an added dimension to this story which will stretch your credulity to breaking point.

Before human beings were created on this planet, there had existed a very wise race of people known as the Imanyukela. These people had come from the constellation known to white people as Orion, and they had inhabited our earth for thousands and thousands of years. And that before they had left our earth to return once more to the sacred Spider constellation, they made a great evacuation under the earth, beneath the Ruwensory Mountains- the Mountains of the Moon and deep in the bowels of Mother Earth, the Imanyukela built a city of copper buildings.

These men she said had come in search of the great city of knowledge which they had heard many, many years ago, stands in the earth under the Mountains of the Moon- the Ruwensory Mountains. This story remained in my mind and was one of the many, many strange stories that I had heard during my long, long travels through Africa. And then much to my amazement, in the year 1975 there arrived at my home in Soweto, a friendly bright priest from Tibet.

You will find African tribes and races who will tell you that they are descendants from gods who came out of the skies thousands of years ago. Some however say that theses gods came to them from the sea in magical boats made out of reeds or wood or copper or even gold. In some cases these gods and goddesses are described as beautiful human beings whose skins were either bright blue or green or even silver. But most of the time you will find it being said these great gods, especially the ones that came out of the sky were non-human, scaly creatures, which lived most of the time in mud or in water -- creatures of an extremely frightening and hideously ugly appearance.

Some say that these creatures were like crocodiles, with crocodile like teeth and jaws, but with very large round heads. Some say that these creatures are very tall beings with snake like heads, set on long thin necks, very long arms and very long legs. There are those that tell us that these gods who came from the skies travelled through the land in magical boats made of bright metal, silver, copper or gold. Boats which had the ability to sail over water or even to fly through the sky like birds.

Throughout Africa we are told that these mysterious beings taught human beings many things. They taught human beings how to have laws, knowledge of herbal medicine, knowledge of arts and knowledge of the mysteries of creation and the cosmos as a whole. We are told that some of these gods had the ability to change their shapes at will. They had the ability to assume the shape and the appearance of any creature that there is on earth whenever they had good reason to do so. A sky god could even turn itself into a rhinoceros and elephant or even a stork, a sky god could even turn turn itself into a rock or even a tree.

In Africa these mysterious gods are known by various names, in West Africa, in the land of the Bumbara people these amphibian or reptilian sky gods are known as Zishwezi. The word zishwezi means either the swimmers or the divers or the gliders. It was said that these sky gods could dive from above the clouds down to the top of a mountain whenever they felt like it, they could also take deep dives into the bottom of the ocean and from there fetch magical objects and then bring them to the shore, placing them at the feet of the astonished black people.

In West Africa again, these creatures are called the Asa, which means the mighty ones of magic. It is from this word asa, a word that speaks great magical power that comes the name Asanti, which means a king, but literally means, the child of asaand as you know Asanti gave birth to the word, Ashanti.

In the land of the Dogon people we find the famous Nommo, a race of reptilian or amphibian beings who were said to have come from the Sirius star to give knowledge and religion to the black people of Dogon. Incidentally, scientists have never explained the meaning of Dogon; it means God Almighty and the Dogon people know themselves as the children of the God Almighty.

There are tribes in various parts of Africa which regard themselves as God's chosen people. These tribes call themselves by a name which means god. In South Africa there is a tribe that calls itself the Tonga, and another very large group which calls itself the Tsonga. And in Zimbabwe there are two tribes, one of which is called the Batonga, and another that is called the Tongaila. The name Tonga, Tsonga or Donga means people of god and you will find these people living in some of the holiest and most spiritual places in Africa. For example, the Matonga people of Northern Zululand live in the area of the sacred St Lucia Lake which is believed by the Zulu people and other tribes in Natal to be the place where, hundreds of years ago, the great earth mother arrived in a boat of reeds, accompanied by her son and his two wives.

And she came to give laws, culture, religion as well as healing arts, and other mysteries to human beings. It is said that the great earth mother was a huge woman, very, very fat with bright green skin and so was her son and his two wives. There once existed in Zimbabwe a very sacred place called Kariba Gorge, which is now covered by a huge lake as a result of the damming of the Zambizi River at this place. In Kariba Gorge there lived two remarkable tribes, the Batonga, which means people of God, and the more remarkable tribe whose name is the Tongaila.

And also that an individual must sometimes sacrifice himself or herself for the good of the community. It is the Nommo, we are told that taught the people of Africa about the mysteries of reincarnation, about the belief that, that which goes away, gone off on the wings of death, will always come back again on the fragrant wings of life. In the land of Nigeria, we hear of how the great mother goddess, Mawi gave birth to human beings after having created the world, and that after a number of centuries, people on earth became filled with selfishness and other forms of negative behaviour and the great mother who was now in the land of the gods, sent down her daughter, Gabato, to earth to once more place human beings upon the path of righteous.

It is said that Gabato arrived on earth in the mouth of a great serpent with all the colours of the rainbow, And this serpent, crawled all over the earth, and such was its size and so great was its weight that wherever it went it created gorges and valleys and canyons. What I found was very astonishing, was that in many countries of the world, amongst the aborigines of Australia, and amongst the native people of the Americas, as in Africa, you find belief in the rainbow serpent. And you also find belief in the feathered serpent.

In the Americas, in South and Central America mostly, the feathered serpent is called Quetzalcoatl, and amongst my people, the Zulus, we find belief in a serpent called Yndlondlo. The Yndlondlo is said to be a huge mamba or a huge python, whose neck is covered in greyish blue feathers, like the feathers of a blue crane, and at the top of the serpents head grow three feathers -- one green one, one red one and a white one which look like huge ostrich tail feathers. The Yndlondlo, like the (South) American Quetzalcoatl, is associated with God the Son.

The greatest users of the ankh, were the almost extinct Khoi Khoi or Hottentot people. The Khoi Khoi said that the unsaid cross represented their great sun god, Heitsie-Ibib. The zulus, Xhosas and the Swazis and other Ngoni speaking peoples of South Africa also believed in a sun god, who died each evening to be reborn again each morning. Who died each winter and was reborn again each spring.

They believed that this beautiful son of God the Father and God the Mother whom they knew by various names, had lost his left leg in a savage fight against a terrible dragon, some say a gigantic crocodile which walked on its hind legs, its rear legs much, much longer than its fore legs. The symbol of this handsome God of the sun, this hero God and bringer of peace, was also the unsaid cross, which the Zulus called Mlenze-munye. The Swazis knew him as Mlente-munye. The name Mlenze-munye or Mlente-mmunye mean the on legged one.

One day I was travelling along the Zambezi River, when I came to a homestead which people in villages that I had passed had told me about. I had been told that in this small village I would find some of the wisest people in the land, people who claim ancestry from creatures who are said to have come from the red star know as Liitolafisi, the red star whose name means the eye of the brown hyena is the star, or rather the planet that white people call Mars.

This is how I met a tribe of people known as the Bantwana, which means children. It is a tribe of people who claim that their remote ancestors were bird like people who came from the stars and who mated with earthly woman and produced these two toed human beings. The Bantwana people welcomed me into their small village and for three months at the feet of two of their elders, I learned about things that left me numb with amazement. The Bantwana are shy people who in ancient times suffered persecution at the hands of people of other tribes, but when they like you and trust you, and feel pity for you, they tell you things that fill you with great amazement. They tell you that there are twenty four inhabited planets within the area of space.

And then it is said, however, that when the Chitauli came to Earth, they arrived in terrible vessels which flew through the air, vessels which were shaped like great bowls and which made a terrible noise and a terrible fire in the sky. And the Chitauli told human beings, whom they gathered together by force with whips of lightning, that they were great gods from the sky and that from now on they would receive a number of great gifts from the god. These so-called gods, who were like human beings, but very tall, with a long tail, and with terrible burning eyes, some of them had two eyes-yellow, bright eyes-some had three eyes, the red, round eye being in the center of their forehead. These creatures then took away the great powers that human beings had:

the power of speaking through the mind only
the power of moving objects with their mind only
the power of seeing into the future and into their past
the power to travel, spiritually, to different worlds

All of these great powers the Chitauli took away from human beings and they gave human beings a new power, now, the power of speech. But, human beings found, to their horror, that the power of speech divided human beings, instead of uniting them, because the Chitauli cunningly created different languages, and they caused a great quarrel between people.

Also, the Chitauli did something which has never been done before: they gave human beings people to rule over them, and they said,

“These are your kings, these are your chiefs. They have our blood in them. They are our children, and you must listen to these people because they will speak on our behalf. If you don’t, we are going punish you very terribly.”

I don’t think the Anunnaki of the Sumerian Tablets and the white Martians proposed in Brian Desborough’s scenario are the same people, although there may well be a genetic connection between them. Putting together the mass of evidence, views, research and opinions, that I have read or heard almost daily these past years, I feel the Anunnaki are a race from a reptile genetic stream. In UFO research these have become known as reptilians. Nor am I alone in this view. I have personally been staggered by how many people today are open to these possibilities and, indeed, are coming to the same conclusions through their own research. These include many who would have laughed at the very idea not so long ago.

Dr Arthur David Horn, a former professor of biological anthropology at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, once believed emphatically in the Darwinist version of human evolution, the slow development of the human species via the principle of the survival of the fittest. Purely on the weight of evidence and his own experience, he is now convinced that humanity was seeded by extraterrestrials and that a reptilian race has controlled the planet for thousands of years and continues to do so today. This is my own view, although I have taken a very different life path to reach those same conclusions. Dr Horn’s research is detailed in his excellent book, Humanity’s Extraterrestrial Origins1 in which he suggests that the ones the Sumerian Tablets call the Anunnaki are this reptile race, another point with which we agree.

The famed British astrophysicist, Fred Hoyle, told a London press conference as long ago as 1971 that the world was controlled by a force which could manifest in many forms. “They are everywhere,” he told astonished journalists, “in the sky, in the sea and on the Earth...” He said that ‘they’ controlled humanity through the mind. I know this sounds utterly bizarre, but you need to read the whole of The Biggest Secret to see the wealth of evidence to support this. If you pull out now or after a couple of chapters because your belief system is in overload, that’s your choice, but you will miss the opportunity to see that the almost hysterically unbelievable is actually true.

The more I weave together incredible amounts of information, the more it seems to me that we are talking of two distinct situations running side by side. There were other extraterrestrial races at large on the Earth, and still are, as well as the extraterrestrial race which the Sumerians called the Anunnaki and other ancient texts called the Serpent Race. It could well have been that some of the others went to war with this reptilian Anunnaki. Ancient texts record these ‘wars of the gods’ all over the world and these could include conflicts between different extraterrestrial races as well as those described in the Sumerian Tablets that appeared to involve Anunnaki factions fighting with each other.

Studies have suggested that had the dinosaurs not been wiped out by yet another cataclysm about 65 million years ago, they would have evolved into a reptile humanoid by now.10 Dale Russell, the senior paleontologist at Northern California University, was asked by the US space agency, NASA.

Researchers into the reptilian phenomenon conclude that at least some originate in the Draco star constellation . The Draco system includes the star Thurban, once the North Star, by which the Egyptian pyramids are orientated.

The author and researcher, Robert Bauval, says that the pyramids at Giza align with the stars on the ‘belt’ of Orion as they would have been in 10,500 BC when Orion was at the lowest point in its cycle (the Orions are supposed to be another extraterrestrial race operating on this planet.

John Rhodes, one of the foremost of the researchers into the reptilian presence, says that they may be space invaders who move from planet to planet, covertly infiltrating the host society and eventually taking over. The reptilian military, it is said, carry out abductions of life forms while their scientists study the biology and introduce the reptilian genetic code into species they wish to manipulate. This involves a programme of crossbreeding and that is precisely what the Sumerian Texts are describing in relation to the Anunnaki.

“From their underground bases, the reptilian military ETs establish a network of human-reptilian crossbreed infiltrates within various levels of the surface culture’s military industrial complexes, government bodies, UFO/paranormal groups, religious and fraternal (priest) orders, etc. These crossbreeds, some unaware of their reptilian genetic “mind control” instructions, act out their subversive roles as “reptilian agents”, setting the stage for a reptilian-led ET invasion.”

I only came across the work of John Rhodes in the last few days before this book was complete and by then, as you will see later in the detailed text, I had reached exactly the same conclusions. Rhodes says that after the reptilians invade a planet from space and from their underground bases, the surface population quickly surrender to superior weaponry. Then the reptilians strip the planet of its resources like water, minerals and DNA information. The infiltration of human society via secret societies is a key method of reptilian control, as I shall detail.

The American writer and researcher, William Bramley, concluded in his book, Gods Of Eden, that the Anunnaki created a secret society called the Brotherhood of the Snake and this has been used to manipulate humanity in the way described in the chapters that follow.19 This Brotherhood of the Snake is the core

In their physical expression, the Anunnaki are one of the many inner-Earth races which live underground in the enormous catacombs, caverns and tunnels below the surface. A Hopi Indian legend says that a very ancient tunnel complex exists under Los Angeles and this, they say, was occupied by a ‘lizard’ race some 5,000 years ago. In 1933 G. Warren Shufelt, an LA mining engineer, claimed to have found it.

Today, it is said, some malevolent Freemasonic rituals are held in this tunnel complex. There has been a massive cover up by the authorities of the existence of these subterranean races and where they live. In 1909 a subterranean city which was built with the precision of the Great Pyramid was found by G.E. Kincaid near the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It was big enough to accommodate 50,000 people and mummified bodies found on the site were of oriental or possibly Egyptian origin, according to the expedition leader Professor S. A. Jordan.

My own research suggests that it is from another dimension, the lower fourth dimension, that the reptilian control and manipulation is primarily orchestrated. Without understanding the multidimensional nature of life and the Universe, it is impossible to follow the manipulation of the Earth by a non-human force.

One day in February 1998 in Johannesburg, South Africa, I spent nearly five hours talking with a Zulu shaman called Credo Mutwa. The word Zulu means People from the Stars because they believe they are a royal race that originates beyond this planet. We talked about the global manipulation and his belief that an extraterrestrial race is behind the global Brotherhood of monarchs, politicians, bankers and media owners.

As I sat down a movie was just starting, it was called The Arrival 36 and was about a reptile-like extraterrestrial race which had taken over the planet by operating through human bodies and appearing to be human. Another lesser-known movie I saw about this time was called They Live and again the theme was of an extraterrestrial race taking over the world by working through human physical bodies.

Alien Resurrection was another to carry the reptilian theme with the implication that the aliens were occupying the bodies of humans. But the closest any movie has come to the truth is the American television series of the 1980s called V. It tells of a reptilian extraterrestrial race who takes over the world by looking like humans.
