Prosperity Simulation Project

Beyond the boundaries of established science an avalanche of exotic ideas compete for our attention. Experts tell us that these ideas should not be permitted to take up the time of working scientists, and for the most part they are surely correct. But what about the gems in the rubble pile? By what ground-rules might we bring extraordinary new possibilities to light?

Prosperity Simulation Project

Unread post by Lloyd » Wed Jul 19, 2017 10:41 am

We should all want to promote prosperity for all, because we'd all have more resources to do many more things we want to do, like science.

I've been reading Modern Money Theory and economist Michael Hudson for a few years and Sovereign Money more recently and then most recently Elizabeth Harris, who seems to be in the Sovereign Money camp. Her views seem the most sensible to me. She has a blog at https://monetarysov.wordpress.com and I left this comment at https://monetarysov.wordpress.com/2017/ ... mment-1165 :

"Elizabeth, I think computer simulations should be the most persuasive argument for your thesis. You mentioned Monaco recently. A small country like Monaco might be good to use in a simulation (You will be, uh, simulated!).
The simulation could demonstrate:
1. the difference in effects of laws that allow and disallow creating money;
2. what policies lead to wide income gaps;
3. what policies and conditions lead to deflation, inflation, hyperinflation and stagflation;
4. what policies lead to prosperity for all;
5. effects of counterfeiting; etc.
Let's look for competent programmers. Shall we?"

Are any of you folks willing to discuss or perhaps do such simulations? Or can you recommend someone? If you don't want to do it out of curiosity etc, we can discuss potential fees.

you cant have prosperity for all and usury at the same time. You have to choose which one you want.

When you choose usury eventually you get a communistic hell on earth when all the wealth has been collected into a few hands. People who don't know anything about history think usury is normal.
its all lies.

The effects of usury and no usury can be included in simulations.

The important question is: Who volunteers to program the simulations (for free or for pay)?

The universe contains an infinite supply of resources,
and extracting those resources can in theory be entirely outsourced to machine labor,
so there is no reason there can't be 'prosperity for all' one day,
but it involves either designing and creating machines that do all the labor for us, or creating machines that can design and create machines that do all the labor for us
and also, to an extent, it involves population control, since even though the universe has infinite resources, you can only fit so much resource traffic into a finite volume
so either you need more livable space, or less population

anyway, there are certainly 'better ways' to do things right here and now - you can look at your own life as an example of this, could you have conserved energy at any point this year by turning off that light bulb, or better organized your trip to conserve fuel, etc? The reality is that we are all pretty wasteful and inefficient. To expect us to do better in any short time period without having to face destruction is to be in denial of basic human nature.

Your only practical avenue to make substantial progress in your lifetime is dedicate your life to building an artificial intelligence that rivals human intelligence, or some other clever strategy like dedicating your life to finding a way to extend your lifespan (biology field?) to 'wait it out' until the robots create paradise on earth

or, you could just try to enjoy life to its fullest and hope somebody else is doing those things, and succeeds, in your lifetime :-) (that's my approach)
