Dinosaur intelligence

Beyond the boundaries of established science an avalanche of exotic ideas compete for our attention. Experts tell us that these ideas should not be permitted to take up the time of working scientists, and for the most part they are surely correct. But what about the gems in the rubble pile? By what ground-rules might we bring extraordinary new possibilities to light?

Dinosaur intelligence

Unread post by redeye » Thu Oct 30, 2008 9:13 am

Saw this on the Homounculus thread: man-with-tiny-brain-shocks-doctors
It got me thinking about Dinosaurs. We assume they were thick as planks due to the tiny brain cavity, but it seems brain size isn't that important. Some Squid show signs of sophisticated mental processes with their ability to rapidly change colour to suit there environment, they also use these colours in basic communication. Rather than a brain these invertabrates have large nervous systems.

Cheers!
